The Para-Exit
Or, Send In The Clowns
A con artist once said there’s a sucker born every minute. It’s a phrase attributed to P.T. Barnum, but according to Wikipedia, there’s no proof that Barnum ever uttered it. From what I can find, it was either a con man, a bar owner, or a banker, but never P.T. Barnum. Whoever coined the phrase isn’t really relevant to this article. Still, I bring the phrase up like this because it misses a critical detail. That detail, Traveler, can be outlined by a phrase I’d like to myself coin at this time.
Some people want to be suckers.
If you’ve followed me on my YouTube channel for a while or have just kept things right here, I’m very grateful to you. However, you may not know what I’m writing about now. I try to avoid drama where I can. However, for almost two years now, I’m still dealing with paranormal-related drama and the drama that comes with the living.
And I’m writing now to say it plainly: I’m out. I’m finished with the paranormal.
Well, let me not get ahead of myself. I’m finished with the paranormal community as we know it.
I’ve met some wonderful people in my time, and I’ve led some incredible expeditions. I love it so much that I’m going to continue doing these things. The ghost hunting doesn’t stop, Traveler. Neither do the experiences, the travels, the art installations, the conventions, or anything else; I’ll still keep wandering and having adventures.
However, it’s been a cold January, what with the Arctic Shelf collapsing. I’ve been cooped up inside and dealing with the health of my older family members. Being a caregiver puts a spotlight on my own mortality, and as such, I need to keep on living for as long as I can.
But part of living is saying goodbye to the toxicity that I’ve been dealing with in trying to warn others about this entire mess. For the most part, people have understood and taken appropriate action to sever ties with the people involved. Thank you for that, and I’m grateful. However, there is a small group of those in the paranormal who can only see their immediate self-interests and choose to defend such heinous and cowardly actions.
Someone indirectly asked how showing a man threatening former volunteers of his organization as well as animals is “good for the field.”
Allow me to answer that question with another, more extended series of questions.
How is threatening former employees who worked for free good for the field? How is sexually harassing one of those employees good for the field? How is threatening a dog owned by one of those employees good for the field? How is stealing people’s personal information from a booking website good for the field? How is doxxing survivors of revenge pornography good for the field? How is insulting people for being gay or being deaf good for the field?
What’s more, how is any of the above better than simply saying I’m sorry?
I’ll never get an answer to that, as all I’m ever met with is a lack of accountability. In place of an answer, I’ll leave. But, my money leaves with me. It’s a funny thing, my money. It works just like any other American money. I usually use it everywhere without an issue. I thought most businesses in the United States wanted cash over anything else.
Apparently, I was wrong. I always pay in full. I leave glowing reviews for the business that any other Traveler can find. But for some reason I’m finding that businesses in this paranormal community (read: cartels) would rather take payment in having their egos fed than money. That’s okay. I don’t feed egos. I have my own to worry about.
But the grifting will continue when I’m gone, Traveler. You have free will, especially in spirituality, so what you decide to do is ultimately up to you. But I’ll ask you this as my parting words to you:
Do you want to be grifted?
Safe Travels.
